My client is the leading company in its field and it’s very easy for me to state how good they are to work for- but quite simply it’s the truth ! – it started off as a small family business 20 years ago but now they employ close to 40 people.  Due to continued success; they are now  looking to recruit a highly motivated Sales Executive to join the Business.

This is a GOLDEN opportunity for someone who wants to earn strong commission and work in a positive culture- the big draw is the Director !- he is a gentleman to work for; well-liked by the team and Business and you will learn a lot from him.

This offices are Dublin based but you will be provided with a company van and it’s very much a road on the role- the Director said “Denis I don’t want too neither have the time to be checking up on this person; they must treat the role like it’s their own mini business.”

There will be a base salary but the commission – which is attainable- and paid monthly is the rela so the overall Salary – Base plus commission/ bonus should be between €50,00 – 60,000 – and there are a number of reps who would do above that within the company but in the 1st year; anywhere from a minimum of €50,000- 60,000 is attainable.

The Role; what is involved  and why the opportunity

In the role; you will be given a list of accounts- a around 120 in total- and  it will focus on selling their portfolio in to electrical side of the sector- both from small independents to larger organisations. The Director said “ Denis I do not want a second hand car salesman approach- we pride ourselves on our customer relationships and if it’s not the right time to sell; so be it “ – Their style as a company and this is exemplified by the Director – is not a pushy ; get a “sale at all costs “ approach. An ethical; collaborative approach is what is important to them and the Business.

In this role, you will come in and initially spend time with one of the reps; visit some of  the client base .With some of the products; it is high volume- low margin and you must have strong commercial acumen ( is this the right decision? Does it make commercial sense?) and the Director is looking for someone who is switched on and think for themselves- for example in the Retail sector; they can be difficult on Rebate; margin.

My Client would have over 4,000 products but it’s very much the 80/20 rule in terms of sales but as company they are always looking at bringing in new products and they want someone who can spot new opportunities.  ** However whilst it is a great company to work for you must be mature enough to take ownership and drive the role yourself. **

In terms of the company’s approach – and this is reflective of their reputation in the market- the following is important in terms of approach with customers and building relationships with them and in particular for sales

  • Have a positive attitude and don’t be selfish- the reason why the team have been there so long is that everyone helps each other out
  • Do not be pushy and build customer relationships– It’s not in their style and  Customers will come back again to you and you will make more in sales if you are honest-
  • Be prepared to be flexible and calm under pressure– if you can sell more with a customer; they may/ more than likely ask for a discount- only naturally- see what is viable but at the same time within reason and be commercial about it.

*For anyone who wants to be on the road; have autonomy in a role; earn strong commission; have experience in selling in on the Electrical side – this could be for you !
