My Client is a leading name in the freight sector and due to continued growth; are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to join the team. This will be challenging role but a great one ! and the successful candidate will be given a lot of autonomy in the position but the real sell for me is the Managing Director and future prospects of the Business-

1. The MD is a Diamond of a Boss; fair; open ; leads by example and this is reflected in the longevity of staff in the Business and the culture within the Business and

2. Due to a takeover from a global player within the international freight sector; Business has doubled in the last 18 months and this is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to bring in new business and utilise the connections; operations of the overall Group who have a very wide worldwide network. ( they have over 600 global sites)

It would be advantageous if someone has worked in the pharma space. Mark the MD said the following ” Denis; the Business has gone through incredible growth due to the takeover which has opened up new doors- this may not have been the case previously but this is a great opportunity for someone to come in; put their own stamp on it and utilise connections within the Group.”

Regarding the culture within the Business and although they are now part of a renowned Global player; there is still a family feel to the Business and the culture is a genuine and positive one. The people in the Business- the Operations; Finance; Ocean Freight; Rail Freight Managers have been with the Organisation for a number of years.

  • An attractive Renumeration package is on offer for the successful candidate but this is at a Senior level- for this role you must have international Freight experience– this is a must have requirement- please do not apply if you have not worked / work in this sector.

The Role

The successful candidate will expand current business lanes and develop new lanes targeted in the company’s growth plan. My Client require candidates capable of:

* Driving Sales and delivering results

* Managing relationships with the company’s target clients

Responsibilities:

* Prospect, sell and deliver new business on a continuous basis at agreed levels

* Sell the services – airfreight, sea freight FCL and LCL, F. East rail import and export.

* Initiate and execute sales campaigns in accordance with Company objectives

Successful candidates will have:

A proven track record of sales in a freight forwarding environment

* Experience in Pharma, Healthcare and medical device vertical would be advantageous

Skills:

* Detailed knowledge of all aspects of the international freight forwarding industry

  • Ability to manage high level client relationships
  • Strong commercial acumen with well-developed negotiation and persuasion skills
  • GDP experience and knowledge
  • In depth knowledge of and experience in the sales process
  • IT’S Skills – MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
